From Rescue to Recovery, We've Got You Covered
Wags 2 Wishes Animal Rescue was founded in 2013 as a small, foster-based rescue with a simple goal: to help 8–10 animals per month find safety, care and a second chance. Very quickly, it became clear that the need in our community was far greater than what foster homes alone could support.
Taking a leap of faith, Wags 2 Wishes secured a modest 1,000-square-foot facility, allowing us to rescue more animals, provide on-site care and continue utilizing foster homes. That decision marked a turning point in our growth and impact.
Over the years, Wags 2 Wishes has expanded, evolved and adapted learning through challenges, navigating setbacks and continuously improving how we serve animals and the community. Through every trial and tribulation, one thing has remained constant: we find a way forward and ALWAYS figure it out.
Wags 2 Wishes is always looking to add to our team and is currently seeking dedicated volunteers. We work with local court systems and offer court-appointed service hours, as well as service hours for local schools. Volunteers may sign up for shifts seven days a week, operating 365 days a year, with most shifts lasting two to three hours. At our core, Wags 2 Wishes exists to save lives, support responsible pet ownership and strengthen the community through accessible animal care. Every animal we rescue, every family we help and every partnership we build is made possible by the people who believe in this mission—and who continue to help us grow it, together.
As of 2026, Wags 2 Wishes is proudly supported by over 120 dedicated volunteers, including approximately 20 core volunteers contributing 30+ hours each week. Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization. They work in the kennels, assist with training, coordinate veterinary care, transport animals, manage paperwork, provide grooming and medication support, send donor thank-you cards and handle countless behind-the-scenes tasks. It is truly a collaborative network of compassionate individuals working toward one shared mission.
Because of this strong foundation and community support, Wags 2 Wishes is now taking an epic leap forward expanding into a facility three times the size of our current space and introducing grooming, training, boarding & daycare services, partnering with Pound Town Boarding & Daycare and beginning the development of Wags 2 Wellness, a low-cost veterinary care center.
